Too Dope To Bully: Owning Our Power, Protecting Our Peace
Author: Amber Hasan
When I look around at the world we live in, I see how easy it is for people to throw shade, tear each other down, and forget that words leave scars just as deep as wounds you can see. Bullying isn’t just a middle school problem it’s something that is prevalent in many of the spaces of our lives. Bullying finds it's way into our workplaces, into our neighborhoods, and even into the quiet spaces of our own minds.
That’s why I stand with Too Dope To Bully. Because this movement isn’t just about telling bullies to stop it’s about finding solutions, healing, uplifting communities and reminding us who we are. Reminding us that our worth cannot be measured by somebody else’s insecurities. Reminding us that when we know we’re dope, when we know we’re valuable, when we know we’ve got light inside us, no one can dim it.
Turning Pain Into Power
As a Black, Muslim woman in America I know what it feels like to be overlooked, underestimated, even ridiculed for daring to be yourself. But every time I wanted to shrink, something inside me whispered: keep shining. And that’s what Too Dope To Bully is about, perseverance, education, and finding a way to navigate through the pain to your place of power. Having the tools to know how not to shrink. Being educated enough not to believe the lies. Having the allies that help empower you to show up boldly, unapologetically, protected and fully present as who you are.
Culture Shift Through Confidence
This campaign is more than a slogan on a shirt this is culture work. Every time we rock that Too Dope To Bully tee, we’re sending a message to the world and to ourselves: we don’t accept cruelty as normal. We believe in kindness. We believe in love. We believe that each of us, and our individual dopeness is more powerful than the poison of hate.
And when other people see us stand tall in that truth, it gives them permission to stand tall too. That’s how we shift the culture. That’s how we make bullying unacceptable, not just by telling kids not to do it, but by showing the world what real confidence, accountability, and compassion look like.
You Are the Movement
I hope that by sharing information on this platform to shine a light on how bullying is an overwhelming issue throughout the world, from the family home to corporate America; I will be able to help foster understanding, conversations, and actions that will help our communities grow to be better. This is why I decided to accept the invitation from Touched Apparel LLC. to come on board as a contributor. In doing so I am calling us all to take action, in whatever ways we can to protect the most vulnerable of us from those who use bullying as a tool of oppression.
If you’ve ever been bullied, you’re not alone. If you’ve ever felt small, know this: your voice still matters. Your dreams still matter. You are still dope. The bullies don’t get the last word...you do.
See the truth is simple all of us are Too Dope To Bully.
